The volume editors propose the book and manage its scope with us. Chapters are submitted by contributors in response to a call for chapters and peer reviewed individually. Every chapter is published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 4.0) with its own Crossref DOI.
- A chapter processing charge of ₹2,500 (USD 35 for authors outside India) is invoiced to the corresponding author only after the chapter is accepted.
- Volume editors are not charged. An editor's own chapter is reviewed by others and pays the same charge as any other chapter.
- The complete book is free to download as a PDF. A printed edition may be offered at cost.
Monographs and textbooks (royalty model)
- No fee to the author at any stage.
- The Press publishes and sells the print and ebook editions and pays a royalty of 10% of net receipts on print and 20% on ebooks. “Net receipts” means the amount the Press actually receives after retailer and distributor discounts.
- Royalty statements are sent once a year, and payment is made when the amount due exceeds ₹1,000 (otherwise it is carried forward).
- Authors keep the copyright and grant the Press an exclusive licence to publish and sell the book. Rates for a particular book are stated in its publishing agreement.
Open access monographs (book processing charge)
- For authors whose funder or institution requires open access. The book is free to read and download under CC BY 4.0.
- The book processing charge depends on length and complexity (typically ₹15,000–25,000, or USD 250–400). The exact amount is written in the publishing agreement before you sign, and is invoiced only after the complete manuscript has passed peer review.
Training books and lab manuals
- Practical guides, protocols and workshop handbooks, reviewed for accuracy by subject experts.
- No fee to the author. Sold at student-friendly prices (Paperback ₹399–699 · eBook ₹199–349 (international eBook USD 12–20).), with a royalty to the author on the same terms as monographs.
Waivers
If you cannot pay a chapter or book processing charge, you can ask for a full or partial waiver when you submit, or at any time before the invoice is issued — for example, if you are a student, are based in a low-income country or have no research funding. Waiver requests are decided by the publisher's office. Editors and reviewers never see payment information, so a request never affects an editorial decision.
What we never charge for
- Submitting a proposal, a chapter or a manuscript.
- Pages, colour figures or supplementary material.
- Faster review or a guaranteed decision — we do not offer “fast-track” publication, and acceptance is never conditional on payment.
How to pay
Invoices are issued by OriGene Biosolutions and can be paid by bank transfer or UPI (authors outside India can pay by international transfer). The invoice shows the bank details; you then record your payment reference in the editorial system and receive a numbered receipt. GST is not applicable.
